Economics of the Music Industry

Economics of the Music Industry targets academic scholars interested in emerging topics in the music industry. The idea is to bring together leading academics and early-career researchers from a diverse set of disciplines (e.g., marketing, economics, information systems, management), to discuss their latest work and get feedback from an engaged audience.

The Young Scholars Workshop provides an opportunity for doctoral researchers to present their research and discuss it with peers and professors in an open and constructive environment. In addition to facilitating the development of research papers, the workshop supports the development of a global interdisciplinary network of early career academics studying the economics of the music industry from different perspectives.

Finally, the conference brings together academic scholars with industry professionals – which will help to make research insights more actionable.

The conference has been initiated by Michel Clement (University of Hamburg), Hannes Datta (Tilburg University), Dominik Papies (University of Tübingen) and Nils Wlömert (Vienna University of Economics and Business).

The inaugural conference will take place in Hamburg, Germany (1-2 December 2022).
